Castle Site – Public Consultation

The time has finally come for you to have your say on the future of the Castle site. Please see the links below to further details about how you can get involved from Monday 7th November, we will provide further details in due course

It is clear to us that the Council is already reigning back on ambitions for the site citing increasing costs and limited budget which is clearly very disappointing. To date, they have failed to see the full potential for incorporating the Castle remains as part of the future design for the site although there are plans in this first phase to uncover the 2 key remains which exist in the 2 chambers on site. This is the very minimum we would expect and even achieving this will require further ‘pressure’ we suspect.

We are supportive of many of the aspects of the initial concept design which partly mirror our own blueprint for the site, and we must bear in mind that there will be no new buildings as part of this funding.  The key elements are to create public realm, de-culvert the Sheaf, create development plots and to excavate and interpret the Castle remains.

It is now critical that you have your say and support the demand for the remains of the Castle to be showcased in an ambitious setting. Do you want to see the Castle revealed? If so, let them know!!

We will continue to keep you updated throughout the consultation period which starts on Monday 7th November.
