We are pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibition at Weston Park Museum, Sheffield which explores the history of the Castle site through the ages. It highlights some of the women associated with the Castle right from the earliest days through to present day.
You will be able to see many artefacts from previous archaeological excavations, photos and written records including our recently donated original copy of Joseph Himsworth’s diary of the Castle excavations from the 1920’s.
The display was developed by Martha Jasko-Lawrence from Museums Sheffield, Wessex Archaeology, Sheffield University Archaeology and the Friends of Sheffield Castle.
The display is housed in the ‘Beneath Your Feet’ section of the museum, is free to view and will be in situ for a couple of years.
