In addition to “bords and plaster” reputedly brought from Sheffield Castle to re-use in Bishops’ House, the house currently has three showcases which are of interest to people trying to engage wiyth the history of the Castle – one is about the CAstle in the Civil War, the other two are artefacts recovered in previous excavations (by arrangement with Museums Sheffield)
My friend John Brown is too modest about the artifacts at Bishops House, itself a Sheffield treasure. A C17th riding boot from Haddon Hall, rapier found in Broad Lane, Civil War ammunition are some items which spring to mind. Bishops House, Carbrook Hall, Sheffield Cathederal, Manor Lodge, the Old Queens Head, all have links, direct and indirect, with Sheffield Castle and the Civil War.
