We are delighted to invite you to an exciting day of talks about Sheffield Castle on Saturday 29th September 2018 at the Old Post Office in Fitzalan Square, now run by Sheffield Hallam University as the Institute of Arts. All the talks are free and coincide with both the excavations taking place on the Castle and also the Sheffield University Festival of the Mind weekend, where the Castle will be the main feature…more details on this to come soon.
The day starts at 11am with the popular talk by David Clarke on the tunnels and myths surrounding the Castle. Following this, Wessex Archaeology, who are undertaking the excavations on the site, will give an update on the finds. The day will close with a talk by John Moreland and Gareth Dean from Sheffield University on the extensive work they have been undertaking on the archives on the Castle, which has revealed never before seen pictures and information. Each talk will be followed by a question and answer session. We are also pleased to say that Museums Sheffield will be bringing some of the artefacts from the Museum records/archives
We hope you can join us on the day – you can book for one talk, two or all three via the link below. Please come and along!! Refreshments will also be available.
Members of FoSC are being given priority booking on these talks until Friday 7th September when it will be open to the public. We expect these talks to book up quickly so don’t hesitate!
Bookings can be made through the Eventbrite booking system
