A couple of events already lined up relating to Sheffield Castle.

Thursday 16th January 13.00 -13.45
FOSC’s very own Dr Glyn Davies, in conjunction with Sheffield Museums Trust, presents an overview of recent archaeological investigations and the potential for further discoveries on the site of Sheffield Castle at at Weston Park Museum. Ron Clayton, Chair of FOSC, will be in attendance and it will be an opportunity to visit SMT’s fascinating exhibition on the Castle and to join the ranks of FOSC. Admission is free and there is no need to book.

david templemanWednesday 12th February 18.30 – 19.45
Local Elizabethan historian and Chair of the Friends Of Sheffield Manor Lodge, David Templeman, will be talking about Life in Tudor and Stuart Sheffield in the Carpenter Room, First Floor, Central Library. Admission is £2 and you need to book in advance. The Chair of FOSC will also be in attendance. Again another opportunity to join the FOSC.

Details of the month long exhibition put together for FOSC by Anna Badcock and Dr Glyn Davies and a local placement Student Jonathan Willmer (at Masters level in History) in the display window on the First Floor of the Central Library, Surrey Street. This will run throughout February.

David Templeman’s talk on Tudor and Stuart Sheffield had an attendance of approx 55 people on a very inclement evening.David presented a wide ranging talk with reference to the Castle and Manor Lodge and he has plans to talk on Sheffield Park and later aspects of the Castle’s history.FOSC was represented and an update provided to the many new faces amongst the audience together with a ‘plug for the ajacent FOSC/University of Sheffield Castle exhibition and our proposed event on the 6th March at the Royal Victoria Hotel on the Lords of Hallamshire.
